Committee

Noah
he/him
President, UoM Chair

Hiya! I’m Noah, I’m a 3rd year pharmacy student, and I’ve been CAOS since 1st year! I play the clarinet, and it’s my 2nd year on committee.

I love CAOS! It’s genuinely the highlight of my week, seeing all of my mates and getting to play great music together. Plus… the pub after really hits the spot ;)

I’m really looking forward to being your president this year! I’ve loved being on committee last year, and I’m really looking forward to meeting all of the new members this year

Lissy
they/them
Vice-President, MMU Chair

Nonbinary compsci student with a future career in software product management! Been in choirs for over a decade and loving every minute of it :) Outside of choir I do aerial hoop, cat fostering, and cooking for friends <3

I love the chill atmosphere at rehearsals and the way everyone focusses all together on the music when it’s time to sing - not because anyone’s telling them to but because we all want the music to sound good and do our best :)

Alastair
he/him
Concert Manager

Hello! I am Alastair, I am a Scot from Hertfordshire, and I am a former student of UoM. I am a singer (I always have been) and I currently sing tenor.

CAOS for me is a place to return to my days singing with my school choir. It reminds me of the community that once gave me, and the one we are building with our choir and orchestra in Manchester today. Also residential is lit.

Niall
he/him
Publicity Secretary

I’m a student at MMU studying textiles but my main passion is performing as a drag queen where I sing and play the violin as my act. In CAOS I sing tenor and play violin.

I love making music and listening to all the different parts of the orchestra and voices in the choir come together.

Sam
he/him
General Secretary and Orchestra Librarian

Hi! I'm Sam. I'm a second year UoM student studying maths. I'm in the orchestra and I play the flute.

I love all the people there. Everyone is very friendly and it's a lot of fun to play in a big group together.

Amelia
she/her
Vice Treasurer

I am a second year UOM student studying educational psychology. I sing as an alto in the choir!

CAOS is the perfect place to share a love for music - and there isn't a better group of people to share it with.

Kate Marshall
she/her
Choir Librarian

Hello! Sadly I'm not a uni student anymore; I teach children with Special Needs and love to do as much music as possible on the side. I'm a Second Soprano in the choir and this is only my second year at CAOS, but I hope to have many more! The role of Choir Librarian is my first experience on committee.

As with most university societies the community is inclusive, ran be people with big hearts and eclectic tastes/skills. When I joined I felt welcomed into the community instantly and a social evening of friendly faces goes a long way after the repercussions of isolation after the COVID pandemic. I'm looking forward to meeting some new members this year and making them feel that strong sense of belonging that music societies have provided me with over the years. Love you CAOS x

Ethan
he/him
Social Secretary

Hello. I’m Ethan. I study events management. I’m a tenor. I play guitar, piano and bell lyre. https://youtu.be/fC7oUOUEEi4?si=CUoRFL25Gdol_oBe

I love myself

Josh
he/him
Residential Manager

Hey! My name's Josh, and I'm a graduate from the University of Salford, after having studied BA Film Production & MA Wildlife Documentary Production!
While my career is in filming and photography, I still love playing trumpet as often as possible :)

CAOS is such a great group of people, and it has a very welcoming vibe. When I joined I knew no one, and as the year progressed I found myself getting to know tonnes of people, which was fab!
Also the repertoire selection is great, I personally love playing orchestral suites from film scores.

Andrew
he/him
Treasurer

Hi, I'm a degree Apprentice at Fujitsu/mmu, (basically both a student and full time working). When I'm not being a techy nerd or at CAOS, I'm usually on the musical theatre scene or overworking myself somewhere :D
I can play piano and in the orchestra I play viola; we're rare, but we do exist!

The brilliant and energetic community within CAOS, it's one the friendliest and most sociable society I've been in and I can't wait to get even more involved next year. And also to not waste the very very expensive music lessons my parents made me have!

Olive
she/her
Social Secretary

Hi I’m Olive, I study human geography at mmu. My hobbies include reading, crochet and cooking. I sing alto in choir.

I joined caos because I love singing. My favourite thing about caos is the people, everyone is so lovely.

Lana
they/them
Inclusions Officer

Hi, I’m Lana, I am an alto in our choir and I’m very excited to be a part of the CAOS committee for the second year in a row :) I am a third year in a Biomedical Sciences masters degree at UOM, and I love being a part of CAOS for the amazing music, people and experiences!

I hope to make everyone feel as welcome at CAOS as I do, please feel free to say hi :)

I joined CAOS halfway through my first year to get back into singing and stayed for the amazing music and people I found there. I’m very excited for the coming concerts this year and hopefully the residential trip! :)

Liv
she/her
Vice/MMU Secretary

Hi I’m Liv! I’m currently in my third year studying Drama and Contemporary Performance at Manchester School of Theatre (MMU). This will be my third year in CAOS and I sing soprano in the choir :)

I love that CAOS is a place for people who love music to come together and play/sing for fun!

Michael
he/him
Webmaster

Hi, my name is Michael and I sing bass in choir. I am a Computer Science student at the University of Manchester, currently on a placement year.

CAOS is without a doubt the best student society in Manchester. The society is super welcoming to newcomers (and we are a non-audition society), but it gets better the longer you stay... The people are great; the music is great; the atmosphere is great. I've made so many amazing friends at CAOS.

Sonia
she/her
New Members Representative

Hiya! My name's Sonia and I'm a 3rd year Classics and Egyptology student at UoM. I play the flute and love to bake, read and play d&d in my spare time!

I love that CAOS feels like a little family :) It's a great opportunity to keep up with playing your instrument throughout uni in a more relaxed environment. I'm most looking forward to this year's residential as it's a great opportunity to spend quality time with everyone!
